What a heartbreaking situation!!!! I am so sad for you, Inky.
our niece, irene, who posts here as inky, sent me an email.
her 27 year old son is getting married in two weeks, and she posted a few days ago about how he didn't invite her to his wedding.. she told me i can post it as she doesn't want to read it again.. "dear mom.
i've needed to write this letter to you for some time now.

as some of you may know, i came these boards quite some time ago due to my close connection to a jehovah's witness.
i watched as he struggled and watched as he left the organization.
to explain him, he is ~out~ physically, but still somewhat ~in~ mentally.
I understand what you are saying, detective. I am an outsider as well. I feel so sad for the JWs who live a life of fear and guilt because of Watchtower teachings. A life where they can't appreciate anything wonderful or beautiful or good, because they have been taught the world is evil. So very, very sad.
in october of 2000, i faded away from the watchtower.
like most people, i have family and friends who are jw's (including my wife and parents).
fading is generally the best method for people in that situation.
Excellent, interesting post expatbrit. I am always amazed by the courage and patience it takes to leave this cult.

Thank you for the analysis, blondie.
There are some JW kids who smoke and drink and have sex and there are some non-JW kids who smoke and drink and have sex. This article is pretty darn insulting to all the good worldy kids, and there are lots of them. So sanctimonious . Grrrr, as the Mom of 2 great teenagers, this Watchtower makes me so mad.
i've been using my father's digital camera since he bought it last year.
it's a hp 618 digital camera.
i use it alot, even too much, so i was thinking of buying my own.
I have a Canon S40 and I am happy with it. I couldn't get good pictures when I was trying to take fast action shots (dancing) without enough light, but I think I was asking too much of the camera.
hi folks,.
i haven't had time to post much lately but do check in to see what has been posted.. my soon to be 85 year old mom is facing surgery to replace her wore out knees.
they are both shot so i don't know if they'll try to do both at once while she's out or do one at a time.
Ascot, I just thought I should mention that your Mom must have a reasonable doctor. I am Canadian as well and have had to deal with these privacy issues with my Mom quite a bit. If the doctor is being sticky and unless your parent has said that he may discuss the case with you , sometimes you need a Guardianship Order to get any information or to have an input into treatment.
My Mom is severely mentally ill and legally blind and I am now her Guardian and have Enduring Power of Attorney and I am able to make sure that her care goes more smoothly and her bills get paid.
Sadie, hang in there. You are being a loving daughter.
this is what my son looks like.
some people here might remember me, i have not posted in about seven months or so, on this site.
i thought i would share my sons photo with everyone.. .
Dragon, he is a real cutie! Congratulations and have fun.
remember the fears everyone had when aids first hit the news?.
here was a new killer virus that didn't have a cure and people feared it could be passed on cups, on seats, by shaking hands, by coughing and sneezing and so on.. it turns out that it couldn't and while there is still no cure, the infection rate is actually relatively low.
it takes 2 years for an aids victim to infect someone else.. now we have sars, everything changes.
Simon, as you can see on the map in the previous post, West Nile is right below us. The disease is carried in birds as well, and it can be guessed that the virus will come to us with the birds as they return North for the summer. The first sign is dying birds in the magpie, crow, blackbird family. Then a certain specific species of mosquito has to spread the virus, and again, that species is moving this way and unfortunately should be here by this summer. There has been publicity about getting rid of standing water in eaves and being careful of birdbaths. Like, we don't already have enough mosquitoes.......
I have bought lots of repellent containing DEET. My son is doing groundskeeping at the local golfcourse for the summer, and I love to garden and we have a lake cabin, and I want to be prepared.

Simon, according to the Infectious Disease Specialists, it is West Nile that is a bigger concern here in Alberta.
